Four on Four Annual Report: 2018 Retrospective & 2019 Outlook

As part of our yearly tradition, Four on Four is pleased to share a recap of achievements from the past year and outline our vision for the year ahead. 2018 marked a year of strategic growth, brand establishment, and technical development—all of which set the foundation for an even more ambitious 2019.

2018 In Review

While 2018 presented some personal milestones for our founder, including the purchase of a new home, Four on Four remained committed to advancing its music and platform objectives. A total of eight new mixes were released, split evenly between exclusive Four on Four releases and new editions of the Four on Four Radio series. The final installment of the year, Radio Edition #34, brought the full catalog to 50 published mixes.

The standout mix of the year, Shikodachi, received significant recognition—reaching #19 on Mixcloud’s Global Big Room House chart and #22 overall in the Big Room category. Other notable exclusives such as This Is My Section, Gioca Sole Mio, and Kibadachi contributed to overall growth, while a previous EDM release, Dirty Vegas (2017), remained the most-played mix with 556 streams.

The Four on Four community on Mixcloud doubled in size, surpassing 250 followers. While SoundCloud engagement did not meet projections, it remains a strategic focus area for future expansion.

A significant brand milestone in 2018 was the introduction of the official Four on Four logo, designed to establish a recognizable visual identity for fans across all platforms. This logo will continue to evolve in 2019 with additional format and color variants for broader use across digital and promotional assets.

Platform development was also a central focus in 2018. The Four on Four Portal saw numerous updates intended to improve usability, music discovery, and collection management. These enhancements not only benefited fans but also streamlined internal workflows for curation and content planning.

Key Portal Releases in 2018

• Version 4.6 (February): Introduced formal release documentation and change tracking. Added label metadata and enabled label-based music search capabilities.

• Version 4.7 (May): Rolled out support for compilations and introduced the “Producers” feature to better represent DJ-led album projects. Major metadata cleanup improved album and track alignment.

• Version 4.8 (July): A major architectural upgrade implemented the Bootstrap framework to support responsive design. New search features, visual enhancements, and iconography modernized the portal’s look and feel.

• November Enhancements: Added continuous playlist playback, seek controls, and preview indicators showing content counts across albums, bands, and labels.

By the end of the year, the Four on Four music library exceeded 4,000 tracks, a major milestone that will drive our content strategy for 2019.

Looking Ahead to 2019

Building upon the infrastructure and branding work of 2018, Four on Four is now positioned to scale both audience engagement and content production.

Three distinct editorial series will be launched to diversify our news and content offerings:

• Four on Four Essentials: A curated review of standout tracks selected for their artistic and mix-ready value.

• FOF DJ Toolbox: Practical guides covering gear, software, and performance strategies for the modern DJ.

• FOF Pulse: A roundup of music news, with a focus on events in Southern California and global developments in electronic music.

Strategic Goals for 2019

To support platform and audience growth, Four on Four has defined the following performance targets:
